A Different Joy

We all experience days that are full of joy. But what about not-so-perfect days? Can we still have joy even when things aren’t the way we would prefer them? Can the Christian experience joy even in suffering? These are all questions that Peter is dealing with in 1 Peter 4:12-19. In this passage we discover a different kind of joy, one that is not anchored in our circumstances but in the benevolent care of our Creator.

When Christians suffer they participate with Christ in his sufferings and Peter says this can be a source of true and lasting joy. It also is powerful testimony to a watching world that directs them to Jesus.
