Traditions

One of the things we love most about traditions is they mark the rhythms of the time in our life. Someone recently told me they loved Halloween because it kicked off a time of year when there is a chill in the air, people were feeling festive and often there was good cheer and kindness all around. Whether we realize it or not we all operate in certain rhythms: 24 hours in a day, 7 days in a week, 30ish days in a month. We are in a rhythm of what time we we eat, what time we go to work, what get up and what time we go to bed (if you doubt the last bit wait until time “springs forward” in the Spring).

Listen as we point out a rhythm found in the Old Testament book of Deuteronomy and think together about how this tradition might intersect with our lives. I’m going to invite you into a new rhythm that I hope might just become a regular tradition in your life. Will join me as think about an old tradition that could very well form one of the rhythms at the heart of our faith?
