In the fourth week of our sermon series titled, “Trust: When Things Are Not As They Seem”, Pastor Jeni preaches from the wisdom book of Job. Within Job she says that we can learn many lessons on how to trust in the Lord even when their is no explanation for our suffering. Join us this week to be inspired by the life, trials, and lessons from the book of Job and how they can teach us about extraordinary trust in the face of difficulties.

BIG QUESTIONS TO ASK:

  1. Does my suffering always NEED an explanation?

  2. Is God JUST? If so, why do “good people” suffer?

  3. Will I be FAITHFUL even when it doesn’t make sense?

Things to consider as you listen:

  • Be careful what you say to someone who is suffering.

  • Emotions don’t disrupt our relationship with God. They deepen it.

  • The key is this: Job stayed in the conversation.

  • False Assumption:

    • Wise & Good = Success/Rewards

    • Evil & Ignorant = Disaster/Punishment

  • Our view of the world is limited, therefore, we simply cannot fully see the “big picture”.

  • While our view is limited, God has his eyes on everything-everywhere-all the time.

  • Our questions & suffering are really an invitation to move closer to God & trust him.
