Water for the Way
The Samaritan woman in John 4:4-23 reveals this truth about us: that we are blind to our own need until the Anointed one opens our eyes. The narrative of the woman at the well is one of the most well known in the Bible; many of us could easily give a summary of it. On its surface, the story chronicles ethnic prejudice and a woman shunned by her community. But look deeper, and you'll realize it reveals a great deal about Jesus’ character.
Above all, the story, which unfolds in the fourth chapter of John illuminates the fact, that Jesus is a seeking Savior able to meet the deepest needs of our lives. This was not a chance meeting but rather one which Jesus intentionally set.
