Everyday Disciple: Everyday Servant

For three years, Jesus constantly demonstrated to the disciples what selfless love for your neighbor looked like and they missed it. On the night before he went to the cross, they were arguing over who was the greatest. They missed it.

Teachers have a way of helping people understand. Instead of explaining the concept to them, Jesus demonstrated it for them by washing their feet. If it didn’t click into place then, it certainly did when he selflessly gave up his life of the cross.

Washing feet and laying one’s life down for the sake of others is the way of Jesus that we are invited to follow. These aren’t one-time decisions that we make, but a lifestyle we embrace every day.
